Application of FRP Material in Theme Park Engineering Decoration

At present, the bidding work for a large international theme park project in Shanghai is in full swing. The management team of Xinda Xin, as the main person in charge of the FRP project for the Hong Kong theme park, hotels, and Japanese hotels in their original workplace, has personally experienced the complex and special process of the project. They have compiled some data on the application of FRP in the design and decoration of the project and discussed it with colleagues.

This theme park project, as a major collaboration with the government, has attracted global attention. Owners, relevant government departments, and various sectors of society attach great importance to the environmental protection and management work of this project, and have very strict requirements. Therefore, in the process of engineering implementation, a large number of substitute materials and simulation materials were used to reduce environmental pollution and minimize the consumption of natural resources. FRP is the most commonly used substitute material among them.

The FRP of this theme park project is made of flame-retardant resin and alkali free glass fiber through molding, demolding, polishing, coloring and other processes to manufacture various shaped components, such as dream castles, tent shapes, imitation wood lines and cartoon characters. The railings and eaves decoration lines of hotels are all made of FRP materials. FRP has the characteristics of waterproof, moisture-proof, flame-retardant, high strength, good stability, and much higher plasticity than general building materials. It can be manufactured into various shapes and patterns according to design requirements, and is economical, practical, and beautiful

Due to the unique production process and cultural background of this theme park, the factory producing the FRP products for this project must have sufficient financial strength, hardware facilities, and technical expertise to support it. Throughout the entire production process, including whether each material and process meets ASTM and the owner's requirements, the factory must be supervised and inspected by professional representatives from the theme park in the United States. The models and products of each product are first inspected by the resident representative before being regularly reconfirmed by the designer and effect artist. Both parties sign and confirm before entering the next process. The project has a huge quantity, multiple varieties, peculiar shapes, and complex surface effects, which greatly tests the management level, technical ability, and production efficiency of the factory.

Before the large-scale installation of FRP begins, all assembly work is completed in the factory, which means that the product and internal framework must be assembled in the factory before being lifted on site. The internal framework is made of 316 stainless steel material, and its position must be determined according to the distribution and shape of the product, and supervised by the owner's representative to inspect its installation position, size, and welding quality. Only after all meet the requirements can the product be assembled.

Due to the numerous changes in appearance, in order to avoid confusion during construction, each product must be pre coded with its corresponding drawing number. Products of different shapes should be transported to their specific installation positions according to the installation sequence and progress to avoid second handling and confusion. After strict inspection, if there are any errors on site, the product can be modified to a limited extent, and can be cut and repaired according to the actual situation. After completing the installation of FRP, the final step is to paint the surface of the completed components.
